Walk of Hope for Brain Tumour Research

On Sunday 20th November 2022, we will be gathering at our Halesowen Office to start a 20 mile walk at 9:00am in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

Local resident, Deb Gascoyne, who works for the charity, brought to our attention the story of Brain Tumour Research, which struck a chord with Managing Director Dean Grove, who sadly lost his father in 2020 to this terrible disease. So we decided to help with a fundraising walk.

Starting outside the Halesowen Office, our team of volunteers will set out to the Hagley Office via Romsley and the Clent Hills. From there, we will be heading towards the Stourbridge Office via the Worcester Road (B4187) and Hagley Road (A491); returning to Halesowen via the A458 - refer to the map for full details of the route (if you're on a mobile, turn the phone on its side to view the map correctly).

Look out for us in our pink T-shirts - everyone is welcome to join us for all or part of the walk. Brain Tumour Research:

Our vision is to find a cure for brain tumours.

Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

The Brain Tumour Research charity is determined to change this.

We are the only national charity in the UK dedicated to funding continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours. We are a leading voice in this country calling for greater support and action for research into brain tumours. Treatments for brain tumour patients lag seriously behind other cancers. The national investment in brain tumour research needs to increase to £30-£35 million each year.

We are building a network of experts in sustainable research at dedicated Centres of Excellence whilst influencing the Government and larger cancer charities to invest more nationally.

Through our Centres we are supporting one of the UK’s largest collaboration of laboratory-based brain tumour scientists, progressing world-class research into brain tumours, working tirelessly to understand this disease. They collaborate across the network of our four Centres of Excellence - based at Imperial College in London, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Plymouth and the University of Portsmouth - as well as with other research institutions locally, nationally and internationally. Our researchers are continually publishing their peer-reviewed results in leading scientific journals.

We are supported across the UK by numerous Member Charities that have united under our national Brain Tumour Research charity banner. Our collective voice carries greater weight in nationwide media coverage and adds weight to our political campaigning action.
